Each of the last 3 Spark the Change Toronto experiences have featured new speakers so this year we’ve created an official experiment called our Emerging Speakers category.
This year, our Emerging Speaker will be Stuart Oakley and he’ll be talking about Multiple Intelligence Theory. You can find the details about his session, and the program in general, here. What’s cool about this session is how Stuart will be asking for feedback from attendees through a big, visible feedback sheet, as well as anonymous cards!
About Stuart
Currently an Agile Coach with CGI and works within the financial industry at one of the to Banks in Canada. For more than 8 years now, Stuart has been on an Agile journey to help software teams become better at what they do. Stuart is an Agile Team Coach, Lean Practitioner and Agile Trainer that is exploring ways of helping teams deliver valuable product to our customers. Prior to the Agile journey, Stuart was a Project Manager, Teacher and Armoured Crewman with the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve. By leveraging this experience, Stuart has been bringing change for the better to the teams he works with.
To Qualify as an Emerging Speaker
- No more than 3 previous experiences speaking at conferences
- Having a topic that aligns with the purpose of Spark (Unleashing People, Organizing the Organization, Disruption & Change)
- Willing to take feedback (speaker chooses anonymous cards, or a public, big visible feedback wall)
- You can suggest yourself, or others for us to contact for future spots on the day of the event through our Emerging Speakers mystery box!
Why We Do This
We believe positive change happens when the people who are motivated to make change are given the opportunity to do so, that’s why we have officially created the Emerging Speakers category. While we agree bigger names attract more people, there are thousands of fantastic speakers all over the world who want to change their lives and inspire people around them if only they had a platform to do so.
